His Choice, My Exit
At her graduation party, research prodigy Ellie Carter finally sees her boyfriend Caleb for who he truly is. In a ten-round "pick a side" game, Caleb chooses his childhood friend Harper nine times — leaving his real girlfriend Ellie with a single token. For three years, Ellie gave up a research position at Boston's Halstead Institute for him, stayed up all night polishing his speeches, and pawned her late mother's keepsakes to pay off his debts. Yet Caleb always put Harper first: she wore his shirts, slept in his master bedroom, signed the lease beside him, and moved into the second bedroom of the house meant for their future wedding. In the parking lot and the storage room, Ellie witnessed Caleb and Harper's betrayal with her own eyes. She didn't cry or make a scene. Calmly, she accepted the Boston offer, boarded the train on moving day, and ended the relationship with a text message. Caleb chased her to Boston, begging for another chance — he even tracked down the bracelet Ellie had pawned, her mother's last keepsake. But Ellie refused with quiet clarity: "Getting the thing back doesn't mean you can turn back time." In the end, Ellie built a successful career at the institute, made peace with her friends, and traveled to Iceland alone to watch the aurora. Caleb left with nothing but regret, and Harper was shunned by everyone.
